Founded in 2020 and Headquartered in Gray Court, South Carolina, Meiden America Switchgear, Inc. (MAS) serves the North American power grid by manufacturing and providing 72.5 & 145 kV Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs) and providing Vacuum Interrupters (VIs). MAS’ parent company, Meidensha Corporation (Meidensha) founded in 1897 in Numazu, Japan is an industry leader in manufacturing high voltage VCB’s for more than half a century.

In 2002 Meidensha developed the world’s first 72.5 kV Dry Air Insulated Dead Tank VCB (Dry Air VCB). To date, more than 2,500 72.5kV Dry Air VCB’s have been delivered all over the world including more than 1,000 units to our North American customers. Another milestone in Meidensha’s innovative product development was achieved with the introduction of the world’s first 145 kV Dry Air Insulated Dead Tank VCB (Dry Air VCB) in late 2021.

In recent years both social and environmental challenges have required fundamental changes in the makeup of the electric grid. In response to these unique challenges MAS’ mission is to be the industry leader by providing high value-add products and solutions that integrate our cutting-edge technologies. We draw from the vast experience accumulated over our 125 years in the industry. Through our unique products and solutions, we provide the opportunity for our customers to create long-lasting environmentally conscious solutions to today’s increasing environmental challenges.

MAS is committed to supporting our North American electric power utility partners to reduce the amount of environmentally unfriendly SF6 gas on their systems supplying them with our 72.5 & 145kV Dry Air VCBs. In addition, our supply of high-quality VIs to our partner North American OEMs will further help in the transition away from our industry’s dependence on SF6 gas.

We look forward to meeting you here at our facilities in Gray Court, SC and would love to discuss with you how we can be of support.
